Coded Cultures eröffnet das Festival 2011 mit dem japanischen Präsentationsformat Pecha Kucha und leitet damit einen zweiwöchigen Wiener Medienkunst-Fokus ein. The presented positions from Japan, Austria and Europe are distinguished by creative practices which explore new forms of media integrated delineation- and knowledge-cultures. By this means they are situated on the intersection of disciplines and have actively integrated different cultural fields in their artistic development.

Ein Treffen für Entwickler, Künstler und Interessierte an der grafischen Multimedia-Programmiersprache PD (Pure Data), die vor allem für audiovisuelle Installationen und Performances verwendet wird.
Pure data wurde in den 1990er von Miller S. Puckette entwickelt, um damit interaktive Computermusik zu erzeugen. In seinem Umfang und seinen Zielen ist PD der Software Max sehr ähnlich, das ebenfalls von Puckette entwickelt wurde und der Vorgänger des kommerziellen Max/MSP ist.
Pure data wird zur Zeit praktisch ausschließlich in der Kunst und in der Lehre verwendet, vor allem für interaktive Multimedia-Projekte. Auch die Möglichkeit, über ein Netzwerk verteilt zu arbeiten und zu interagieren, ist vor allem für Künstler reizvoll.
